Rumors are circulating around blogs and social sites regarding Google Chrome OS launching this week. So far I’ve been unable to find any official statments regarding the matter, but expect something from Google soon.
Google Chrome is a lightweight Operating System that is being built for smaller computers such as laptops and netbooks. From images I’ve seen, they tend to keep the design minimalistic with a target audience of those who spend the majority of their time on the internet. The icing on the cake, however, is how much it costs: $0. That’s right, FREE!
Don’t get too excited just yet; the Chrome OS will not simply install on any computer, for now Google has stated they’ve been working with Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and Toshiba to integrate Chrome with their products.
It’s also interesting that they are in the works with Adobe, perhaps trying to gain ground by integrating their OS and browser with Adobe’s software which is commonly used by graphic designers and web developers.
